About Ron Smekens

As an author, Ron Smekens is just starting out, but writing has always been a part of him. He is a creative person by nature, but due to circumstances in his life, this only came to fruition later in life.

The inspiration for his poems, photos, and quotes always arises spontaneously in the moment. Throughout his journey through life, poems, photos, and quotes continued to emerge. Together, they bear witness to all the events in his life and the feelings that accompanied them.

Writing offered him peace and inner quiet during periods when he struggled with himself and life. After many bumps and poems, he was allowed to come home to Unity, in Unity with himself.

He compiled this collection of poems, Scheuren in de tijd (Cracks in Time), during an intense two-year period of illness in order to establish a new foundation in his life.

Ron Smekens now manifests this book in the world from his deepest essence. With his poems, he wants to create connection and touch people. Touch who we are with all our vulnerability. Everyone has their own way of living life, and in that we are all connected in our Humanity.

Growing from 'being by not being' to 'being allowed to be fully oneself'.

Ron Smekens (Diest, 1961) is a Belgian national who, after many travels, now lives in Valkenswaard, the Netherlands.
